It's been a LONG semester!

What with a new approach to homeschooling, a first ever art show and waiting for Young Man to earn his pilot's license it's been a LOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG semester!

Tonight... one week and one day after his last final Young Man finally arrived home. Weather and a few minor errors kept him in Texas as he worked to complete his training. He is now officially a pilot... although the paperwork isn't final as the FAA guy wasn't in the office.
It doesn't matter, we all know he's a pilot and he is just one step closer to being a Missions Aviator.

I remember 7.5 years ago searching for colleges that took home schooled kids AND trained pilots for missions aviation. There are more than you might think, but still not that many. I remember his Intro. to Aviation class. He said, "I'm scared." " What if I don't like this?" I laughed. But I told him, "Well, then you'll know this isn't your calling." He loved it. He THRIVED. I remember him finally telling us he was going to Africa last summer. I cried. I wasn't scared. I was awed. He had told us. He told us when he was three that he would fly. He told us when he was 11 that God had called him to be a missionary aviator. He told me he when he was choosing freshman classes that he needed French because that would help in Africa. God chose his name... one who had come alongside another to support him in his calling. Truly it is amazing to see this all happen before our eyes.

We sent a boy of to college a year and a half ago. Tonight a man, a pilot, met us with my boy's grin on his face. Yep... same guy, just grown up. It's been a long semester, but it's been worth it.

And then there is Senior Son. I'm going to spill the beans. He's a writer. No, he's not published. Yet. But I hope he will be. Yes, fiction, but he's good. At least I think so and I've always been a TOUGH grader. His teacher liked his writing. His life was a different story. He thought he knew what he was to do with his life. That wasn't the way it turned out. Writing is not his main calling, but it's something he's good at. His whole life is turning around. God is working all the time and again, we get to witness the results. It is so amazing!

It's been a long semester. It's been a long time. It's been worth the wait.
